Is there a way that I can set the secondary/backup domain controller to function as a time server so that the client machines will be able to sync with the domain?

The computer did not resync because no time data was available.įrom what I have read, it seems that by default in a domain configuration, the time server is set to the primary domain controller. I get the following message: Sending resync command to local computer Now when I try to force it by running from a client machine: >w32tm /resync I have been noticing that the time isn't synchronizing though. However, when I plug the original primary domain controller back into the network, some users experience strange behaviors, such as randomly having no domain permissions, etc.Īnyway, we currently have the primary domain controller off of the network, and the backup is working fine for the most part. I replaced the motherboard with the same model, and the operating system works 99%. Eventually the primary died completely (motherboard). Our primary domain controller started to fail, so we installed a secondary domain controller to allow people to login when the primary would fail. IPSubnet – Array of all the subnet masks associated with the current network adapter. We have an interesting scenario at my workplace. IPEnabled – If TRUE, TCP/IP is bound and enabled on this network adapter.

Windows 2000 and Windows NT 4.0: This property is not available. If there are multiple routes to a destination in the IP routing table, the route with the lowest metric is used. IPConnectionMetric – Cost of using the configured routes for the IP bound adapter and is the weighted value for those routes in the IP routing table. Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Windows NT 4.0: This property contains addresses in IPv4 format. For more information, see IPv6 and IPv4 Support in WMI.

Starting with Windows Vista, this property can contain either IPv6 addresses or IPv4 addresses. IPAddress – Array of all of the IP addresses associated with the current network adapter. This argument has a one-to-one correspondence with the DefaultIPGateway property. Gatewa圜ostMetric – Array of integer cost metric values (ranging from 1 to 9999) to be used in calculating the fastest, most reliable, or least expensive routes. The /renew option of ipconfig command request a fresh new IP address from the DHCP server. To get a fresh new IP address, just type ipconfig /renew. Now the system doesn’t have an IP address, and it is ready to obtain a new IP address from DHCP server. Example: “192.168.12.1 192.168.46.1″ĭHCPEnabled – If TRUE, the dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) server automatically assigns an IP address to the computer system when establishing a network connection.ĭHCPLeaseExpires – Expiration date and time for a leased IP address that was assigned to the computer by the dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) server.ĭHCPLeaseObtained – Date and time the lease was obtained for the IP address assigned to the computer by the dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) server.ĭHCPServer – IP address of the dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) server. Yes, the output result of ipconfig /release shows that the current IP address removed. DefaultIPGateway – Array of IP addresses of default gateways that the computer system uses.
